Today, on the Feast of St. Thomas, Apostle, we remember the disciple whose journey from doubt to faith has inspired Christians for centuries. When St. Thomas encountered the risen Christ, he responded with one of the most profound professions of faith in Scripture: "My Lord and my God!"
We are reminded that faith is often lived out not only in moments of certainty but also in acts of compassionate service. Every day, healthcare professionals working in challenging environments bring hope to mothers, babies, and families by providing skilled, respectful, and life-affirming care. Their witness reflects the Gospel in action.
As we celebrate St. Thomas, the patron of those who seek understanding and the courageous missionary who carried the Good News far from home, we pray for all those serving vulnerable mothers around the world. May they be strengthened in their vocation, guided by wisdom, and sustained by God's grace.
On this feast day, let us ask St. Thomas to intercede for MaterCare International, our healthcare workers, our supporters, and the families we serve. May our faith continue to be expressed through love, service, and an unwavering commitment to the dignity of every mother and every child.
