Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, the "Cross of Honour"

On December 9th, 2012, at the 11am mass celebrated by Most Rev Marin Currie, Archbishop of St John’s, Newfoundland. Dr. Robert Walley, MaterCare International's founder, was presented the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal.

 

The medal, also known as the “Cross of Honour”, is given given for distinguished service to the church by laypeople and clergy. It is the highest medal that can be awarded to the laity by the Papacy. Dr. Walley stated, “I am going to accept this award on behalf of all who have worked for MCI, as well as all of our benefactors and supporters.”
