His Rome Conference presentation is entitled "Witnessing to the Gospel of Life in Ireland".
ABSTRACT:
Thirty five years after the insertion of an amendment into the Constitution of Ireland which acknowledged the right to life of the unborn and the equal right to life of the mother, the Irish people, by a significant majority, removed that amendment in another referendum in May 2018. Just seven months later, the Irish parliament approved the most "liberal" abortion regime in Europe. In this short intervention, I will explore why this happened, what we have learnt from the experience, what is happening now "on the ground", and what we need to do now.
