MaterCare International was founded in response to a profound ethical crisis in medicine. In 1976, Dr. Robert Walley courageously challenged the growing acceptance of abortion and contraception in obstetrics and gynecology, asking the pivotal question:

How does one maintain integrity in the medical field while faithfully serving mothers and children?

His vision led to the creation of MaterCare International, a professional, faith-driven organization rooted in the Gospel of Life. Since then, MCI has supported Catholic medical professionals, reduced maternal mortality in developing countries, and offered a voice of hope for mothers and babies around the world.
