Today, we joyfully celebrate an incredible milestone, the 95th birthday of Kay Newbold, one of MaterCare’s most steadfast and inspiring volunteers.
For over 20 years, Kay has been more than just a supporter, she has been a champion of our mission to serve mothers and babies in the developing world. From organizing parish events and distributing our materials, to standing proudly behind a MaterCare display at every Catholic Women’s League (CWL) convention, Kay has shared our story with heart, creativity, and unwavering commitment.
It is because of Kay’s tireless efforts that countless people, particularly throughout Toronto’s parishes, have come to know and support the work of MaterCare. Her presentations, often given in collaboration with our Executive Director and Project Manager, were filled not just with information, but with the passion and conviction of someone who truly believes in the sanctity of motherhood and life.
This past Sunday, May 25th, Kay was honored at her parish hall with a birthday celebration befitting a woman of her quiet but extraordinary influence. Her spirit of joyful service continues to inspire all of us at MaterCare and the wider CWL community.
Kay has lived her life embodying the beautiful truth that “a seed grows with no sound, but a tree falls with huge noise.” Her legacy is in every quiet act of faith, every display table she decorated, and every heart she touched.
To Kay: thank you for your many years of dedication, for your voice, and for your love. You have helped build something that will continue to grow long into the future.
With heartfelt gratitude and warmest birthday wishes,
The MaterCare Team
