The Ruhango district in southern Rwanda has 14 health centers and two hospitals including (one public and one private hospital). This is insufficient when we consider the distance covered by the population. The fertility rate within Ruhango district is actually 4.1 whereas at the national level the target is 3.3, making maternity care a priority in this region.
Partnering with Watato Children of Africa, MaterCare International is delivering maternal health care in this region and expanding our efforts. Hospital usage has increased significantly over the past year.
