MCI founder awarded Honorary Doctorate

Sep. 22, 2014:
On Saturday, September 20, 2014, Dr. Robert Walley (pictured right), founder of MaterCare International, was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from the John Paul II Institute of Marriage and Family in Melbourne, Australia. The doctorate was given to Dr. Walley during the 2014 National Fertility Conference, hosted by the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family and the Life, Marriage and Family Office of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Walley stated, “I am deeply honoured, and I thank the Melbourne Council and Section of the St John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family very much. Unfortunately, my wife Susan could not be present, as I always share such events with her as without her presence at home and her support and advice, I would have done nothing.  Both of us have been challenged by the Lord in ways we had not dreamed of and we have responded as best we could with the help of the Holy Spirit and the Mother of God. I accepted this honorary degree on behalf of all the MaterCare International staff, generous benefactors, volunteers and supporters from around the world. Without their contributions of time and money, dedication and hard work, none of our projects would have become a reality.”

Mothers continue to be chronically neglected, obstetricians and health care providers around the world continue to have their faith challenged by governing organizations, we pray for those women, men and children struggling to bring to light the urgency of maternal health care and upholding the dignity of life.
