Project Nigeria

MCI Ireland was contacted by an Ireland-based oil company, Providence Resources. Their aim is to provide community health programs in the area of Nigeria where they are drilling two rigs. They found the MCI website and noted the previous Nigerian work as well as the Ghana BTC. They want to contract MCI to provide a rural maternal health program in their area. The importance of this project, apart from what MCI would be doing, is the fact that MCI has been found and contacted by a company. It appears that it is not only bishops that looking for an ethical maternal health organization. MCI Nigeria is presently being established by Dr. Henrietta Williams, an attendee of the Rome 2004 Workshop.
