To consider the dignity of motherhood

To consider Christian values in the practice of obstetrics

To consider the evidence and ethical considerations concerning current controversial issues

To consider abortion

To consider the biology and ethical concerns and alternative ethical sources of stem cells.

To consider the ethical treatments for infertility.

To consider the organization, function and activities of MaterCare International.

To provide an opportunity to raise any issues

To provide an opportunity to make and renew friendships.

The centre is close to St. Peter’s Basilica.  From Fiumicino airport (Rome) take a taxi directly to the centre; or take the train to Termini (Rome’s mainline station), then bus #64 to St. Peter’s; or a train to Trastevere station and from there a second train to St. Peter’s station.

The meeting is open to obstetricians/gynaecologists, representatives from MCI, FIAMC, CICIAMS, and other interested Church, medical, bioethical and legal organizations, specialists in training, medical students, Catholic Women’s Organisations, pro-life groups, political leaders and media representatives.

REGISTRATION FEE €150.00-Registrant.  €50 accompanying person. €60 Student and Priest. €60 Daily rate.  Cancellation fee 20% total amount-to September 1, 2006.  No refunds after this date, but changes of names will be accepted.

 

ACCOMMODATION:  An alternative accommodation will be available in the Nova Domus Santa Marta in the Vatican (single rooms only).  The number of rooms is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

 

DEPOSIT:  Registration fee & one night’s accommodation.  It is possible to extend your stay before or after the meeting upon specific request and arrangements with the Secretariat early.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This meeting will have a workshop format thus considerable time is being given

to discussion from the floor.

Posters:  Space is available for poster presentations.
